Maikeru vs Anyone (open off rpg match, death allowed)

Maikeru was bored. He was too old to join a group, and therefore had to train alone. Not that training alone wasn't good enough, he just wished he had someone to help. Only knowing two jutsu wasn't good, and he needed battle experience to develop new techniques. Which leads him here... the Kirigakure training grounds. He had posted invitations around the city...


He posted that yesterday, and so someone should soon come. He leaned against a tree, his tail slowly swaying back and forth.

[Yes i know its at the top of the list, but... bump to get people to notice it?]

Kidate stepped into the clearing where the Kirigakure Training area was marked. In his right hand he held a scrap of paper, an announcement informing him that a fellow genin needed a sparring partner. Kidate wasn't often one to pick fights with strangers, but for the sake of training he might as well. He stepped cautiously into the field, the morning fog hiding his feet from him. He didn't like not being able to hear his own footsteps, it made him anxious.

Maikeru watched the young boy enter the clearing. He stood up and walked towards him, hands still in his pocket. He sized him up. He seemed powerful for someone who looks this young, and that made him feel worse. Maikeru hated being a 19 year old genin. He hid this with a smile, and extended a hand towards the boy.

"Hey. You must be here to spar, correct?"

Kidate jumped slightly as he felt someone approaching. He turned to the figure, only to find that it was a mist shinobi like himself. He looks a bit old to be a genin... He thought to himself, reaching out and shaking the fox-man's hand. He gave the man a smile and a nod, releasing his grip and stuffing the piece of paper into his pocket.

"That's what I came for." He said cheerfully, backing up a few paces. His cat tail moved back and forth behind him as he waited. "I'm Kidate Gyouan, by the way. Would you like to start?"

"Of course. But, since you were nice enough to come and help, I'll let you have the first move." In actuality, Maikeru wanted to size this Kidate up before attacking. He was only a genin, and he didn't have an unlimited amount of chakra, so it all had to count. He walked to the other side of the field, giving them both plenty of distance for whatever technique they wished to use, and waited patiently for Kidate to attack.

"I'm Maikeru Shikyo by the way. Don't hold back please."

"Don't worry. I won't." Kidate assured him, Reaching into the pouch clipped to the back of his belt. He produced two kunai. Kidate charged his opponent, throwing the kunai at him before he got within five feet of him. With his other hand he released a blast of wind, which sped up the kunai significantly, also most likely pushing his opponent back. Not wanting to stay in the same place, as soon as he'd released the attack, Kidate jumped to his left, landing and skidding until he stood a good distance away, awaiting his opponent's counter.

Name:Reppushou - Gale Wind Palm

Effect:Fuuton • Reppushou is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Wind Element. After forming the needed hand seals, the user will send a strong gust of wind towards his target. When acting in conjunction with another thrown weapon, the wind can increase its power and deadliness.

Wind user eh? Good, he had the element advantage. He noticed Kidate's tail for the first time while he was running, and three assumptions came to mind.

1. His opponent had animal features as well, probably matching him in his sight, hearing, speed, and balance.

2. His opponent wasted no time in attacking, even if he blocked the kunai, the wind would push him back into the trees.

3. The kid was good with strategy, moving out of the way, anticipating a counter attack.

So be it. Maikeru moved his arms to block the kunai, letting the armor like cloth ricochet them off into two trees, and let the wind push him back to the tree. At the last moment, he jumped, letting his feet land on the tree, bent his legs, and pushed through the remaining wind at the kid. He activated his fire claws, and started doing the handseals for his fox flame Justu. When he was close enough to the kid, he let the Green flame loose mere feet away from him.

Kidate smiled, shifting his weight onto his right leg. Just as his opponent jumped toward him, Kidate would move too. He jumped to the right, dropping three explosive tags as he did so. He pushed both palms to his left as he jumped, effectively propelling himself further to the right. Kidate narrowly escaped the eruption of green flame, tumbling even further to the right as he landed. He stood back up, looking at the green flame before him curiously. Suddenly, the first of the explosive tags went off, making the others do that same. Kidate's heart jumped at the sound, as if he didn't know it was going to happen, and he ran up a nearby tree where he could perch and watch for his opponent, planning his next attack.

He reached into his pouch and produced a few things. He now held a length of ninja wire, kunai, explosive tags, and one shuriken. The acidic scent of smoke reached his nostrils and he coughed a little, looking out at the smokescreen the explosion had created. Where'd he go..? He thought to himself anxiously.

Maikeru couldn't help himself, He chuckled and rolled, letting the back of his armor vest take the brunt of the explosion. It got a little singed, and the metal wires wove into it glinted, now a little visible, and the force of the explosions forced him into a different tree then he was planning on. He jumped into the foliage, and winced from the pain the explosion gave him, and now that the initial rush of adrenaline was gone, he also felt two scratches on his arm from the kunai. Good, this would be a good fight. He scanned the area quickly, and the glint of metal alerted him to Kidate's position. Gathering his chakra in his hands, he condensed some fire chakra into a small spark, and launched it at Kidate. It was so small, he probably wouldn't notice it until it was right there, and then it would be too late.

• Description: The user expells a small spark of fire chakra like a bullet from his finger, and when it comes into contact with anything, it explodes into a ball of intense fire 3' in diameter.

There it was, his opponent's body flew out of the cloud of blackened smoke, and into the foliage. Kidate sighed, preparing to move so that he could begin his plan. However, something caught his eye. Flying over the cloud of black smoke was a small, bright orb of what looked like fire. It soared toward him, and as it did Kidate began to fully appreciate just how tiny it was. However, that was the most dangerous kind. He dropped from the branch on which he squatted, landing beneath and leaping into the cloud of smoke. He would appear on the other side-the one that Maikeru had been thrown out of- with everything prepared. He held the kunai in one hand, the wires that were attached to them hidden in his sleeve, and the shuriken in another, with the explosive tag attached to its center ring.

Kidate threw the shuriken into the woods where his opponent had last disappeared, setting it off just seconds after it had entered the foliage, hopefully forcing his opponent out into the open.

This kid was smart. He payed attention, and saw the small spark. He had thrown some more weapons, no doubt with exploding tags, and right before they exploded, he jumped back into another tree who's foliage meshed with this one's. Luckily at this point, his own spark collided with the tree Kidate was standing in, and it exploded loudly, and while it drew his attention for just a second, he threw his own kunai, the wire they were attached to whistling as it uncoiled from his arm. All he needed to do was get it close enough, and he could tie Kidate up.

Abilities of item: No special abilities.
Description of item Appearance: Three kunai attached to a 20' length of wire. They remain coiled up until thrown, which fly in a straight line, but can be moved with the wire. Once the kunai is embedded in something, the wire can either be used as a zipline or a grappling hook. Maikeru usually has them wound around his arms, hidden in his sleeves.

The spark hit the tree behind him, erupting in flames just a short time after his own explosion. His ear twitched and he stiffened up, turning his head. In the process, he saw the black object flying toward him. [i]The hell..?[i] he thought to himself, throwing one of his kunai at it with the pinpoint accuracy taught to him in the shinobi academy. The two knives clashed mid-air, Each flying off in the direction they'd come, diagonally. Kidate pulled on the wire attached to the kunai, forcing to to land in the ground at his feet. He reached down, scooping it up, and launching the three kunai he had in his hand in the direction that the kunai had come, hoping to hit his opponent.

Damn, he had forgotten about his speed. Using a well practiced motion, he pulled back on the wire, letting it wrap around his arm, and deftly leaned back letting the three kunai sink into the wood behind him. He then dashed from tree to tree at his highest speed, often returning to the same tree, in a effort to confuse Kidate. Eventually he pulled a kunai from his pack and jumped down towards kidate, releasing another blast of his Fox Flame Jutsu, and throwing the kunai through it.

Kidate smiled, this was his plan from the start. He waited patiently for the moment when he could proceed to the next step. His opponent went from tree to tree in a seemingly random pattern, never stopping, occasionally returning to the same tree. Still, Kidate stood patiently. Finally, his opponent jumped out from the trees, and Kidate sprang into action.

He launched himself forward with a powerful gale wind palm, flying up to meet his opponent. Moving at full speed, me met his opponent just as he left the foliage, pulling the ninja wire tight so that it would catch him mid-air, hopefully clothes-lining him and knocking him to the ground. Should the plan work, Kidate would launch a kunai down toward his falling opponent. Should it fail, well, Kidate hadn't gotten that far yet.

He noticed the wire a second too late, and quickly grabbed it to help steady himself with the sudden halt of momentum. He quickly scanned the area for Kidate, and gave up after a second or so, diving back into a nearby tree. He activated his fox lantern jutsu, and threw it one way, while heading another, taking a little time to help recover some of his lost chakra. He turned to look for Kidate and saw him in the air, and drew a few kunai, raking them across his arms, getting a bit of his blood on them, and then threw them with high speed and perfect accuracy. If the kunai could so much as break the skin, the poison in his blood would infect Kidate, and within an hour, the battle would be over.

Kidate landed softly on the ground, releasing the wires in his hand. He watched as a flash of light appeared in the forest where his opponent had been last seen. The fire moved to Kidate's left, while he saw the rustling of leaves and branches, indicating that his opponent was moving to the right. Flanking me like that..? He thought to himself, unimpressed. His opponent didn't reappear, but from the last location that Kidate had seen him moving came a few kunai.

Decisions, decisions.. He thought to himself, breathing in a massive amount of air. Between puncture wounds and minor burns, Kidate would take the burns any day. He focused on the kunai, slamming his fist into his gut. Suddenly, a large bullet of air and chakra fired like a missile, deflecting the kunai and continuing toward the area that the kunai had come from, tearing through the trees as it did so. He now ignored the firelight that was last seen behind him, unsure of what it was supposed to do, but not terribly concerned. I'm bound to take a hit eventually..

Name:Renkuudan - Drilling Air Projectile

Effect:Fuuton • Renkuudan is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Wind Element. The user inhales a large amount of air into his chest and then slams his fist into his chest to expel it. To strengthen the attack user will imbue chakra into the air. When expelled it forms concussive spherical projectiles capable of inflicting large damage.

This was getting bad. Either Maikeru was moving to sluggishly to fool him, or this kid was too observant to fool like that. He let the kunai come at him, refusing to make a move. The wind had indeed returned it, but had sent it slightly off course, so the only kunai that hit him, only grazed him, and all three thunked into the tree behind him. He slowly reached back and grabbed one, noting it still covered in his poisonous blood, and waited for Kidate to make another move, one that left an opening.

Kidate sighed, watching as his opponent reached behind him, presumably grabbing a kunai. Well, they missed.. He thought to himself, reaching into his pouch. He felt around, taking inventory. Yeah, that should be enough...

He took three steps forward, removing four shuriken from his pouch and flicking them toward his opponent. Another step brought two kunai forward, those in turn being launched toward his opponent, and a final step produced an explosive tag, dropped in the air in front of him. He thrust his palm toward the explosive tag, releasing another blast of wind. The wind propelled all of the projectiles well past a speed Kidate was capable of throwing them at on his own, hopefully past the level of speed his opponent was capable of.

"C'mon.." He thought to himself, breathing evenly to keep himself steady. He was using jutsu a little more often than he probably should, though he was used to the rapid expense of chakra. Still, this genin was a tricky one, and they normally went down well before now. Speaking of now, that is exactly what Kidate said just moments after his four-step assault.

The word escaped his lips, and as it did so the explosive tag went off, its concussive force pushing the kunai and shuriken even faster toward his opponent, and with any hope pushing them to the speed necessary to skewer the fox-boy.

Hmmm... this was tricky. No opening was readily available. Four shuriken and a kunai... Maikeru quickly grabbed another kunai from his pack, and deflected the six weapons, managing to fully deflect two, the other four leaving shallow cuts across his arms, which bled rather profusely. He pulled out 10 shuriken from his pack, his entire reserve, and rubbed them against the cuts, coating them in his poisonous blood. He then threw them one at a time, from ten different directions, all with as perfect of an accuracy as he can muster. If a single one landed their hit, it would be over for Kidate. And if not, he would of course be ready in the one area that was safe from the shuriken, directly above Kidate. He jumped, timing it so he would get there about the same time as him, his kunai still dripping with his blood.

Either way, that was a few posts back, editing it now would be pointless and detrimental to the topic. We can discuss my further use of the jutsu through PM's if you'd like, bearing in mind that it was approved on my application by Talis.]]

Kidate heard the disappointing sound of metal on metal, meaning that his opponent had deflected his attacks. He watched as his opponent wiped his wounds with the edges of his shuriken, his eyebrow arching instinctively. Either he's just sick or.. He thought to himself, taking a step back and crouching low to the ground, prepared to move anyway he needed to.

Maikeru began throwing the shuriken from every direction he could, and as they converged he disappeared once again. Suddenly, Kidate's world became just a little bit darker. Not metaphorically, but literally; there was a shadow over his head. Smirking, Kidate threw himself to the ground, tumbling underneath the ring of shuriken coming at him, and hopefully avoiding whatever was thrown down upon him.

As he cleared the ring, he jumped to his feet and hopped back a few inches, pulling the last two kunai and one of his last explosive tags from his pouch. He attached the explosive tag to one of the kunai, launched both of them at his opponent, suspended in the air. Gotta be hard to maneuver up there.. He mused silently, waiting for his kunai to come close enough. When it had, he formed a one-handed seal, causing the explosion to go off.

Kidate moved Remarkably fast. It was the most he could do to throw his own explosive tag, which collided with Kidates, setting them both of prematurely, and well away from either of them. He threw the kunai held in his hand towards Kidate, through the smoke, hopefully so He couldn't see it, then landed in a tree and let loose one more volley of the Fox Flame Jutsu, hoping one of them would hit. He sat in the tree and waited for one of them to collide.

Kidate winced at the sound of the explosions, being so close with such sensitive hearing. Through the smoke came a kunai, parting the cloud as it pushed through, creating a small hole that filled in itself once again when it had passed. Sidestepping the kunai, he jumped far to his right to get a better view around the smokescreen. Suddenly, bursts of fire came at him from a tree, green in hue. He danced around the bursts of flame, trying his best to avoid them. However, the last one did catch his arm, igniting the cloth sleeve that covered it.

Kidate yelped, swatting at the green fire with his other hand in an attempt to put it out. He cursed to himself under his breath, obviously not a fan of fire in any form.
