Reiji stood on the water, feeling it shift beneath his feet, adjusting his chakra accordingly. It seemed effortless, requiring so little concentration and effort to stand perfectly still on the shifting surface. He was a good thirty feet from the shore, well away from the village. He didn't care. The village held nothing for him but painful memories and indifferent faces. He watches as a curious fish swam under his feet slowly, then quickly dart back to the lower depths. He watched curiously as it sped out of sight. He wondered if he would ever be that curious, that trusting, again.
His thoughts were disturbed by the sound of footsteps behind him. They were faint, almost undetectable. Ahh, a ninja. He looked at the horizon, still facing away from the shore. He didn't care who was here, as long as they left him alone. But just in case, he quickly pulled a kunai from his pack, the motion easily hidden by his cloak.
